BRIDGES

Bridge pictureAll I see –
A world filled with
Chasms and trenches
Differences and distances
Murder and mayhem
Ego and anger
And I feel –
Isn’t it time
to take a mirror to oneself?
Isn’t it time
To acknowledge the pain?
Isn’t it time
To wipe off the tears
And stop the madness?
Isn’t it time to
build bridges?
Of understanding and acceptance
Of sympathy and empathy
Of generosity and gratitude
And above all –
Of love and compassion…

A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

MAY IT BE FILLED WITH JOY AND PEACE!

  3. Very nice.

But do we even need bridges?

If the “world” is pure perception, can’t we change it immediately by how we perceive?

I.e., nothing is either good or bad; only thinking makes it so.

    Dear Anjali,

Thank you for this powerful poem.

A lot of what we see in the world today is about destruction. Building bridges is about positive construction. In ancient times, building bridges was considered a sacred science, as there was an understanding that “to bridge” is to connect, and to do away with separation.

A happy new year to you and yours! 🙂

    All good wishes,

    robert

    • Thank you MP for your visit and your insightful comment. You are very right – there IS always a bridge available if we are so inclined to use it. And it is so fundamental to human happiness that we connect via bridges as opposed to destroy them and our happiness in the bargain.

  9. Enjoyable view from your ‘bridge’ anjali, that I serendipitously journeyed into through common network. Be it the mythological Rama Sethu off Rameswaram coast or the proverbial Rubicon or the communication bridges that we seek to build, bridges serve to connect and bring people together….bridging, instead of creating, divides is an edifying thought for the new year….all the best for a rewarding year ahead….Raj.
