The year is 1986, the place Mumbai.

Teenager Devika’s older, college going sister Uma steps out of their, strict middle-class home with her parents. They return home – she does not. Her parents tell Devika that her sister is dead.

The story opens a quarter of a century later in 2011 when Devika accidentally discovers a letter that reveals that her sister is still alive. DISOWNED is the story of Devika’s quest for her missing sister straddling two continents. It sweeps across the hot and dusty small towns of India and transports us to a bygone time (196o’s India) to ultimately reveal the secret that has destroyed three generations of mothers and daughters.

DISOWNED deals with the themes of love, morality, betrayal and abandonment and their claustrophobic grip on middle-class India, both in modern times and the 1960’s.

      • Your welcome! I have pressed the ‘follow’ button so i can keep up with your adventures in Asia and your writing alike. Al the best!

      • Oh, oh! There has been a change of plans – we are going to continue to stay in the UK as we couldn’t bear to leave our son here (who’s at uni) and fly 13hrs away! So I will continue to have adventures but here in the UK :))

      • Oh i see! That is great then for all parties concerned. You don’t have to be so far away from your son. Either ways i am glad you stopped by my blog and i stalked you bk ๐Ÿ™‚ hopefully we can keep in touch

      • Absolutely – and no you haven’t stalked – you have become a good friend, and I loved talking to you! Rest assured, you will see me a lot often at your blog ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. I often get asked to write reviews which I place both on my blog (thousands of visitors now) but also Amazon. I’d gladly do this if you send me a copy.

    • Thank you so much for your offer Russell. My apologies for the delay in getting back to you – some mismanagement with my comments section! My novel isn’t published yet and am in its second draft. Once I’m done with its polishing, I shall certainly be grateful for any review of it. Thanks once again!
